About the Job:
We are looking for a new consultant at the level of a Senior Consultant or an Associate Principal Consultant to join our Employment & Litigation Support (ELS) Division, within the Employee Selection and Assessment practice area! The ELS division is staffed by I/O Psychologists and Labor Economists and is organized into practice areas related to Employee Selection and Assessment, Workforce and EEO Analytics, and Litigation Support. This division partners with our clients to design state of the science employee selection systems, evaluate workforce systems and processes, and ensure applied research is considered in the context of applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
Within the Employee Selection and Assessment practice area, common services include conducting job analysis research for a wide variety of purposes, developing and validating employee selection procedures, and evaluating hiring, compensation, promotion, and performance measurement processes and outcomes across a range of dimensions.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement research methods and business solutions to address organizational challenges in employee selection and assessment, staying current with best practices and tools.
- Lead employee selection and assessment projects, including job analyses, assessment development/review of external vendor work, and validation, managing project activities, client communications, and delivering high-quality research within budget, timeline, and scope.
- Lead and conduct research data collection, including client interviews, focus groups, surveys via virtual and on-site research, to support job analyses and other project initiatives; conduct secondary research using academic literature, case law, and other sources to inform project insights and recommendations.
- Interpret various EEO analyses (e.g., adverse impact statistics, regression) across a range of employment decisions (e.g., hiring, promotion,) to identify potential risks or legal compliance issues.
- Present project results and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences, including business leaders, legal partners, and clients.
- Support business development efforts, contributing to proposals, blog writing, and client meetings, while assisting with budgeting and resource allocation.
Required Years of Experience and Willingness Factors:
- Minimum years of experience leading the development of employee selection and assessment projects (Note: Job level is dependent upon years of experience.)

- For the Associate Principal Consultant level: At least 6 years of applied experience at the Ph.D. level or 9 years of applied experience at the MA/MS level in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field.
- For the Senior Consultant level: At least 3 years of applied experience at the Ph.D. level or 6 years of applied experience at the MA/MS level in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field.
- Willingness to travel: Open to project-related travel, approximately 0-15% of the time, dependent on project needs.
- Working Remotely: Willingness and ability to work effectively in a virtual environment as a member of a team and with significant autonomy, self-discipline, and organization skills.
Required Technical KSAOs:
- Extensive experience and expert skill in selection and assessment-related research design – including planning and evaluating research, designing sampling plans, understanding threats to validity, and understanding legal risk; skilled in assessing data sources and analytical approaches for validity, reliability, and integrity, ensuring data and statistical results drive informed, strategic decisions.
- Extensive experience and expert skill in conducting selection and assessment-related research – including complex job analyses; test development or third-party reviews; and validation research, including content, criterion, and alternative methods involving “borrowing” validity evidence through, for example, transportability.
- Knowledge of psychometric principles and related statistical methods – with experience planning and interpreting results of statistical analyses relevant to test development, validation, and use (e.g., adverse impact, reliability, correlations, regression, power analyses, significance tests, effect size indices).
- Knowledge of employment law frameworks – including knowledge of the Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures, SIOP’s Principles for the Validation and Use of Selection Tests, and APA’s Standards for Educational and Psychological testing.
Required General KSAOs:
- Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work; verifies the accuracy of data/deliverables to minimize errors; is committed to providing quality services and products (e.g., reports) and ensures high-quality and precise work products.
- Computer skills – Expert computer skills in MS Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, 365, Teams).
- Consulting skills – Skill in understanding client challenges and goals to develop tailored, relevant solutions; establishing trust and credibility with both internal and external clients; building and maintaining collaborative relationships, and independently managing multiple clients in a consulting environment.
- Critical thinking – Ability to gather, synthesize, and act on information to solve issues using effective critical thinking skills.
- Oral communication and presentation skills – Proficient in sharing information verbally with diverse audiences, tailoring messages to suit their needs; adept at breaking down complex ideas into understandable formats, presenting them clearly to clients and co-workers, and fostering effective communication through active listening and appropriate responses.
- Project management skills – Skilled in managing large, complex client projects from start to finish: efficient in resource allocation, monitoring progress and driving momentum, and adjusting timelines based on client and team input; capable of identifying risks and implementing solutions; leads project teams, fostering collaboration and accountability, and ensuring high-quality deliverables while managing scope.
- Tolerance for ambiguity - Ability to accept unclear, uncertain, or novel situations and work effectively in those contexts.
- Written communication skills – Composes information to share in writing to a variety of audiences and using a variety of mediums (e.g., reports, presentations, e-mail, blogs); writes in an organized manner at an appropriate level of detail for the intended audience.
Preferred KSAOs:
- Data Analysis – Experience analyzing data in R or SAS.
- Proposals – Experience in writing/costing proposals or responding to RFPs.
- Compensation – Familiarity with Compensation design and development.
- AAPs – Familiarity with Affirmative Action Plans (AAPs).
- Artificial Intelligence – Familiarity with emerging federal regulations, state and local laws, and recommended practices regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence in employee selection.
- HRIS – Familiarity with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and/or Applicant Tracking Systems.
