Abstract:
In 2017, the Journal of Applied Psychology (JAP) has celebrated its Centennial. For this occasion, leading experts in our field have reflected on 100 years of I-O psychology research (see a Special Centennial Issue, published by JAP in March, 2017). In this talk, I will first briefly summarize key milestones and trends in I-O psychology research, based on the recent JAP Centennial Issue. Reflecting on my experience as JAP Editor, I will then discuss emerging trends pertaining to publication topics, methods employed in our research, and other publication issues (e.g., open science topics). Throughout the discussion, I will also consider the important interplay between academic/scientific and practice/applied issues in our field.
